Top Of The Chart Information
Top Of The Chart TipsWe disregarded the top 40 music entirely, and focused on classic rock and oldies, mixing it up with a bit of blues and R&B. It is possible to make a living off of the tips of the 35+ crowd, but you really don't want to alienate younger listeners. Mostly, the younger folks would go somewhere else. The weird thing was that people would not stick around as long. That seemed to work pretty well for a while. For a while, we switched it up. We would have more folks actively listening to us, and we seemed to get better tips as well. Garth Brooks is another musician that had an excellent commentary on dance. Given the choice, many who have lost their lives in some risky endeavor would more than likely tell those left behind that they would not have traded the dance for one more breath. The lyrics to this song are somewhat haunting "I could have missed the pain but I'd have had to miss the dance". His song "The Dance" chronicles not necessarily the importance of dancing but of participating. Top Of The Chart AdviceThe ones that stick are often those who write their own material. There is still room however for the old warriors in top 40 music. Fans will have their own ideas on who will still be around in twenty or thirty years time from the current crop of artists. These are the gifted songwriters, musicians who are not reliant on fashion or slick production techniques. Some artists have careers that span decades, such as David Bowie, Elton John and Paul McCartney. Some winners have gone into acting careers. Reality talent shows, such as American Idol and Pop Idol and X Factor in the UK have had an impact on the music scene. Trends come and go, music gets re-cycled and everyone waits for the next big thing to come along. The charts are an international concern and it may be very lucrative to have a hit record in Japan or Germany. The winners and runners up of the shows have a short burst of success, often reaching the coveted number one spot, but they rarely have any staying power and generally fade into obscurity.
