I decided that the music, even top 40 music, would help with the problem. I even went out and bought a few CDs, but I have since stopped listening to them. There was still much of it that I could not stand, but it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I tried to work without the music, but because data entry can be so mind-numbing, I found that I was going crazy. I started listening and found that I liked some of it more than I thought I would.

The weird thing was that people would not stick around as long. It is possible to make a living off of the tips of the 35+ crowd, but you really don't want to alienate younger listeners. For a while, we switched it up. Mostly, the younger folks would go somewhere else. We would have more folks actively listening to us, and we seemed to get better tips as well. That seemed to work pretty well for a while. We disregarded the top 40 music entirely, and focused on classic rock and oldies, mixing it up with a bit of blues and R&B.

Nonetheless, sometimes the music alone is not enough to convey the whole message. Music videos are an art form, if you ask me. No matter what I am doing, I usually have a CD on in the background. I like all kinds of music. I love music, and I always have. That is why I like to download music videos. When they are done right, the music and the images go together to tell a story or create a seamless and beautiful scene. Although MTV doesn't show them as often as it used to, with all the downloadable music videos on the Internet you can still watch them whenever you want to. I like rock, pop, old country, and even some classical.

The Billboard top music songs seemed to work pretty well for a while, but the crowd was not quite with us. Whatever the reason, we were not in sync with what this crowd wanted to hear. They would nod along to the music, and we would make decent tips on most nights, but for the most part no one really listened to what we were doing.
